I have a cunning plan or two!!!

In an effort to make best use of my time that I am currently not able to train or generally be of any use with regards to cycling, I have managed to find a few training plans to follow for when I do get back up and on my bike.

I have manged to put together a fairly interactive progress tracking excel spread sheet using 16week plan templates I found online.

They are a bit of a bodge but the plan is now to follow a lengthy planned out riding program that will hopefully put me in a good position for me to be able to undertake the long distance challenge of riding across the country and then from one end to the other.

Its going to be a killer ride but on the other hand it wont be as hard as the training.

In further news too I have been sending out plenty of emails to potential sponsors. The only one I have got backing from was my own work and even then I don't think they quite got the point of what I was saying.

On the other hand I am learning and hoping that at some point soon I will get a sponsor.

We shall see and I shall press on regardless.

Its that Soldier in the back of my head screaming "KEEP GOING!!!" again!

Love it

P.s. Albert Einstein loved too ride too!!!

Great news every body!!!

Just found out that the wiggle Cheshire Cat that was supposed to be happening this weekend has been postponed due to the really bad weather we are supposed to be getting this weekend.

"Why is that good news" I hear you say..

Well I am still registered on that event and I am unable to ride this weekend due to a rather large pot still on my leg. However wiggle have rebooked the cat for July 7th which I will be able to do as I will be back up and cycling again by then!!!

Great news then I get to whip the cat.

Looking forward to it already! Hurrah!!!

Still got my ticket to ride too!!!

Double hurrah!!!

I have a cunning plan (or two!).

During my lunch today I have found some good free training plans that will help me build up some good endurance for upcoming events. I have managed to convert them into excel documents and may even post them on the CDL cycling page too.

I haven't had anyone fill out the membership form yet but I do think that not many people know about the site yet. I am just hoping it takes off and becomes a popular club with CDL as I have put a real effort in to getting things together. I just look forward now to getting this thing off my leg soon and being able to start chipping away at some of these training plans plus getting some club mileage in too!!!

All great fun and even if it all comes to nothing it has been good experience too.

Love cycling- hate being broken still!

Bike back in order!

I have managed to make the repairs to my bike after the crash I had a few weeks ago. It has been a while but it's not like I will be riding it any time soon.

I did actually notice when I rode it last the the chain was a bit stiff and seemed to jump a little. This was of course a lack of lubrication on my chain. When I took it off yesterday it was completely stiff and rusted. Oops! I stripped all the rust and old grease off using some white spirit and then bathed the chain in a tub filled with wax oil and worked the chain until it was all working again. I can only hope my chain isn't completely buggered.

Most of the crash damage was on the bikes handlebars. Thankfully they were not bent, just the bar tape damaged that I also replaced.

Oddly enough my saddle also got a chunk taken out of it. Must have been from when my bike hit me in the back of the head! I haven't replaced this yet (the saddle not my head!) but will do at some point sooner or later.

Now my bike is back and ready for use. Hopefully I will be back on it in just a few weeks time. I miss cycling!!!

I've started a club!!!

At work there is a new drive towards trying to get people involved and start people doing more together. I suppose a lot of it is because people that work in IT are not the most sociable bunch at the best of times.

I of course have started the CDL cycling club.

I have cleverly used the blog site (same one I use to write this blog) as a way to build up a site that people can use and visit and register online to join the club.  All very clever stuff really!

If you just happen to want to have a look or even join the club (Only open to CDL staff at the moment though) you can have a look using the following link here

I am open to suggestions as to what is wanted on the site. It is not perfect (I don't do this sort of thing for a living, even if I do work in IT) and it's a work in progress.

I have a few more idea's as to how I can add more pages but really don't want to get too carried away.

let me know what you think

Less than 3 weeks! I hope

Well after going back to the hospital on Monday, the doctor has said he wants to see me again in 3 weeks time. By then they will be able to say if they will take the cast off my leg. I must say I am already looking forward to being back to normal again.

I have certainly missed all the little things, stuff like being able to hold Evie's hand (my oldest daughter) when we walk along or pick up Rosie and give her a big hug. Just walking is difficult. Not being able to drive is a pain too as I am still being subjected to public transport. It's not the buses, the 1 hour 20 minute journey time or even having to wait for te bus in the cold. It's the  inconvenience of having to use them instead of my nice big warm car or even better my lovely agile fast bike.

On the cycling side of life though, obviously I am currently achieving a high mileage of nil this month. But I have entered the Great Manchester Cycle on June 30th.

It will be nice to just enjoy the streets minus the cars and ride with others that feel the same too.

I will keep you up to date on any progress with my leg and the bike too.

Love cycling, :)
